Title: Unique multipartite extension of quantum state over time
Abstract: In this talk, I’ll introduce the “quantum state over time” formalism, a powerful tool that captures quantum dynamics as operators on Hilbert spaces across different times, much like how density operators describe spatial correlations. This approach addresses the long-standing asymmetry between spatial and temporal correlations in quantum theory. Building on recent results that characterize quantum states over two time points, we extend the framework to multiple time points using a simple but natural axiom: the ability to distinguish input states from quantum processes. I’ll discuss the wide-reaching implications of this formalism, including its connections to quantum Bayesian inference and virtual state broadcasting. Lastly, we’ll explore its one-to-one correspondence with quasi-probability distributions like the Kirkwood-Dirac distribution, which has applications ranging from n-time correlation functions to out-of-time correlators (OTOCs).
